Defining a Purpose for Your Marketing

If you don’t know where you’re going, how will you get there? Most of us wouldn’t decide we need a vacation, jump in the car and drive aimlessly around. Yet people take this very approach to marketing all the time.

If you haven’t defined goals – what you want to accomplish with your marketing and advertising, your approach will lack focus and most likely produce lack luster results.
Well defined goals serve as a guide or a map. If there’s no destination in mind, don’t be surprised when you drive in circles. Do you want to increase sales? Broaden your demographic? Increase awareness of who you are and what you do? Bring in new clients? Goals help define your approach and decide how and where you advertise.
